President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to ending the war in Ukraine, warning that he will impose high tariffs and further sanctions on Russia if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a settlement.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump claimed his push for peace was a “very big favor” to both Russia and its leader.
As part of his strategy, Trump has endorsed the appointment of retired General Keith Kellogg as Special Envoy for Russia-Ukraine issues. Kellogg, a former National Security Advisor, will play a key role in negotiations.
“We’ve made a lot of progress on Russia-Ukraine, we’ll see what happens, but a lot of progress has been made,” Trump said. “We’re going to stop that ridiculous war.”
