During a Senate hearing on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Republican North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis expressed optimism about Kennedy’s potential leadership.

“I hope he goes wild and actually finds a way to reduce the cost of healthcare,” Tillis said, emphasizing the need for a fresh approach.

He urged Kennedy to tackle long-standing issues in the fields of Medicaid, food safety, and drug pricing, while criticizing the status quo for failing to produce meaningful change.

Rather than targeting specific pharmaceutical companies, Tillis encouraged Kennedy to convene industry leaders into lowering drug costs and streamlining the medical supply chains.

“Somebody with a legal mind may do that,” Tillis concluded, confirming his openness to Kennedy’s unconventional approach.
