Rep. Seth Magaziner, D-R.I., called for stronger cybersecurity measures during a House discussion, emphasizing the need for immediate action from the Trump administration.
Magaziner criticized the recent developments in the cyber domain, and he argued that adversaries have been gaining too much ground due to the insufficient federal response. He urged the administration to prioritize America’s data security by discontinuing the hiring freeze for cybersecurity professionals as well as implementing more protections for American citizens’ private information.
“If we’re going to have conversations about cybersecurity, I welcome it,” Magaziner stated. “But it needs to start with the administration taking steps to protect the private data of Americans, to lift the hiring freeze of cybersecurity professionals, and to stop giving our adversaries win after win after win in the cyber domain as they have been over the last two weeks.”
