In a recent White House press interview, President Donald Trump argued for the need for fair trade in the automobile industry.

He pointed out that while the U.S. produces some of the “finest cars in the world,” certain countries impose high tariffs on American vehicles while enjoying low tariffs when exporting their own cars to the U.S.

Trump hinted at policy changes his administration has in the works that are meant to address this trade imbalance.

“We want tariffs to be fair,” he said. “If they charge us, we should be able to charge them. I think those days of unfair trade are over.”
