Leaders, foreign and domestic, pack Trumps second inauguration

The second inauguration for Donald Trump has drawn a diverse group of attendees, including former U.S. presidents, tech industry titans and international leaders.

Trump’s family, including first lady Melania and children Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric Tiffany, and Barron, were in attendance, alongside Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s family, including his wife Usha, were also in attendance.

Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden, along with their spouses, Laura Bush, Hilary Clinton, and Dr. Jill Biden, were in attendance. Former first lady Michelle Obama did not attend.

Outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris, who opposed Trump in the 2024 election, was also in attendance as well as Former Vice President Dick Cheney.

All nine sitting Supreme Court Justices and retired Justice Stephen Breyer were present for the inauguration.

Prominent tech industry figures such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Meta’s Mark Zuckerburg were seated with cabinet members behind Trump’s family. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Apple’s Tim Cook, and Google’s Sundar Pichai were also in attendance.

In a historic move, Trump invited international leaders such as Argentinian President Javier Milei and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. China’s Vice President Han Zheng, representing President Xi Jinping, also attended.

Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, was among the foreign leaders in room.

Members of Trump’s proposed Cabinet, such as Pete Hegseth, Kristi Noem, Doug Burgum, Marco Rubio, Elise Stefanik, Mike Waltz, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard, stood by as Trump took the oath of office.

Notable attendees also included former Republican House Speakers Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, and Kevin McCarthy.

Sen. Mitch McConnell and his wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, were at the Rotunda for the ceremony.

The ceremony will have Carrie Underwood, Lee Greenwood, and Christopher Macchio performances.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was absent.

Due to the weather, the ceremony was moved indoors to the Capital Rotunda, significantly limiting attendance. While originally expecting 250,000 attendees, the new venue can accommodate 700 people.
