White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said that the biggest threat to American democracy at the moment comes from unelected federal bureaucrats, whom he accused of defying the will of voters.
While speaking at a White House press briefing, Miller criticized lifetime civil servants for allegedly disregarding policies endorsed by the American people. His examples ranged from cases of FBI agents resisting reform to EPA officials rejecting energy policy changes, and Department of Justice lawyers refusing to end DEI initiatives after President Trump’s explicit executive orders.
“What President Trump is doing is he is removing federal bureaucrats who are defying democracy by failing to implement his lawful orders, which are the will of the whole American people,” Miller said.
