(The Center Square)— Arizona continues to experience a population boom, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data.

The state ranked eighth for numeric growth between July 2023 and July 2024. By percent growth, it ranked in tenth place.

It grew by 109,357 people, and 78,000 babies were born. The births outweighed the deaths in the state, with 68,662 dying in that time frame.

When it comes to welcoming those from other countries, Arizona is home to 64,486 new immigrants.

In addition, net migration increased even further. There were 99,388 people compared with 88,000 the year before. Net migration refers to the number of people gained subtracted by those that moved out.

The state is often considered one of the top growing in nation for both residents and businesses. However, the southern United States continues to surpass all other areas for population growth, according to the bureau. Still, Arizona was noted as the second largest gaining state in the time frame behind California, but Utah was dubbed the “fastest.”
